If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?
In anticipation of the Mother/Daughter retreat, we’ve been doing a blog series entitled “Dear Younger Me…” You can click here to see past posts!
Today, I want to introduce you to Melody!
Melody has been on the KGM Team since inception in 2007. She was my assistant for more than five years. (God bless her!) She now serves as our Content Development Director.
Melody is a saint with a servant’s heart who desires to mentor women by encouraging a deeper relationship with God through personal connection. She can uniquely speak into women’s lives who have been betrayed as she has walked a similar road. With God as her constant companion through it all, Melody has never faltered in her faith and longs to instill that same confident faith in the women around her.
- Don’t wait until you’re older to grow in your faith. Start right now. Spend time in God’s Word. Read His Word daily and hide it in your heart. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your steps.” Proverbs 3:5-6
- Believe what God says about you, and anchor your life in that Truth. Don’t believe every negative, critical, or hurtful word that someone else says about you. Be like a duck, as water slides off a duck’s back (because of the natural oil coating on their feathers), let others’ words and attitudes slide right off your back. Otherwise, you will feel like a yo-yo, pulled up and down, always subject to others’ opinions. God’s Word says you are loved, accepted and blessed as a child of God. “You are His masterpiece. He has created you anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10
- Be a real friend to others. Treat them the way you would like to be treated. Be kind, good, trustworthy and patient. Treating others this way will attract friends with the same character to your life. These are the friends that will stick around during the good times and the bad. “There are ‘friends’ who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
