Make God Your Primary Relationship – YouTube
Exodus 34:14 (NLT),
“God is passionate about His relationship with you.”
Just when we thought the world couldn’t get any more unsettled… the beginning of 2021 has proven us wrong.
It’s been difficult to process the news of these first couple weeks of our new year without feeling a degree of panic, disbelief, or anxiety. However, something that’s helping me remain grounded during this uncertain season is my time with God. Turning my attention and focus upon who He is has given me a heart that’s peaceful. Steadfast. Trusting. Unmoving.
When you and I wisely choose to make our relationship with God THE priority above all others, He offers us peace. He gives us strength to face the day. He enables us to experience life more abundantly.
The way we make Him the priority is to nurture a daily quiet time.
What is a Quiet Time?
A quiet time is when you deliberately set aside a period of time each day to read/study your Bible, to hear God’s voice, and to commune with Him through prayer. It’s a day-by-day choice to spend quality time with Jesus.
What Does a Quiet Time Require?
-
- A commitment to set aside a set amount of time each day (or most days)
- An open heart that’s willing to hear what God has to say. Isaiah 66:2, “This is the one I esteem, she who is humble, contrite in spirit and trembles at my Word.”
- A Bible
- A notebook or journal along with pen or pencil
What Time of Day?
It’s up to you. I personally enjoy early mornings. It started years ago when I rose 20 minutes earlier than needed. Now, I find I need an hour, if not more. This time spent in God’s Word feeds my heart and hungry soul more than any other activity.
When life is hard, time with God is all we need. Jesus invites us to bring our fears, burdens, anxieties, and hardships to Him. He wants to carry them for us, but He also longs to connect with us. The fellowship of Jesus’ company is sweeter than anything else this world offers. Jesus wants to share life with you. He’s passionate about being in relationship with you!
Grow closer to Jesus in the new year!
