Five Steps Toward a More Blessed & Stronger Country

by | Jul 3, 2018 | Lifestyle

Proverbs 14:34 The Message (MSG)

“God-devotion makes a country strong;
God-avoidance leaves people weak.”

On July 4, 1776, the Bible tells us God determined a new nation would rise.  He also determined that nation’s boundaries.

Acts 17:26-27 New Living Translation (NLT)

26 From one man He created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and He determined their boundaries.

Why?

27 “His purpose was for the nations [for each individual person living in those nations] to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though He is not far from any one of us.

The Word tells us God wants us to find Him and know Him personally.   No matter where we live, He’s not far from any one of us.

The Word also tell us…

Psalm 113:4 New International Version (NIV)

“The Lord is exalted over all the nations…”

Psalm 47:7-9 New Living Translation (NLT)

For God is the King over all the earth…
    God reigns above the nations,
    sitting on His holy throne.
For all the kings of the earth belong to God

But there is one distinction that causes a nation to stand out in God’s eyes above all others…

Psalm 33:12 New International Version (NIV)

1Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…

However, in our society today, it’s usually not politically expedient for any of our leaders (or for us personally) to proclaim and live this statement.  For the sake of inclusion and political correctness, we are often called to acquiesce when it comes to our faith…  To accept and approve of all faiths without objection.

But only the nation whose God is the Lord will be blessed.  The Bible also says:

Proverbs 14:34 The Message (MSG)

“God-devotion makes a country strong;
God-avoidance leaves people weak.”

And,

Mark 3:24 New Living Translation (NLT)

“A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse.”

To have a more blessed and stronger country, there are a few things we can do.

  1. First, make sure you’ve placed our faith in Jesus alone.  Keep in mind, it’s not Jesus plus karma; or Jesus plus meditation or Jesus plus Buddha or Allah.  It’s Jesus alone.
  2. Turn from any known sin.  The cool thing about God is that we don’t have to be right before we come to Jesus.  He makes us right after we come to Him.
  3. We can’t avoid God.  Spend time cultivating a relationship with Him by reading our Bibles each day.
  4. Cultivate intentional friendships that will lead us closer to Jesus.
  5. Live God’s Word in our everyday world.  Every place we set our foot,  we have been sovereignly placed there by God to make a difference.
  • To hold firm convictions in a world where anything goes.

  • To speak truth when it’s not politically correct.

  • To walk with God even when everyone else is running away from Him.

It’s an individual choice of one woman or one man to be the difference in his or her corner of the world.   The end result is a more blessed and stronger country!
