Luke 2:10,
“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you.”
A few years ago when house-hunting, I saw a children’s Bible that appeared similar to the one my kids had when young. I was taken aback, however, when instead of asserting that God had created the world, it stated Allah had created heaven and earth. As I scanned this particular home, I noticed it was filled with other evidence that it belonged to a devout, Muslim family.
I live in a very diverse area with people groups representing many nationalities, religions, and backgrounds. A simple trip to the local grocery store gives a great flavor for the many ethnic groups that now call my hometown home as well.
God shares a number of Truths in Scripture for this multi-cultural and pluralistic society we live in.
When the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds, radiating God’s glory all around them, they proclaimed that Jesus had come for all people. His birth was for all people of every nation.
Jesus came for the whole world, not a small geographic or ethnic group.
God created every human being who walks the planet in His own image. Each one of us has equal significance, dignity, purpose, and worth. The gospel overcomes any pre-conceived limits such as background, ethnicity, language, religion, behaviors, age, and social status. Jesus is for everyone, and we all need Him!
There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity – the man Jesus Christ!
We all must check ourselves against any form of prejudice. May we never forget that God’s plan for salvation shows no favoritism. God is impartial. The good news of Jesus’ birth is for all people!
Resist any temptation to shy away from people who may look or believe differently from you. Relationships matter to God. It’s often by forging such friendships that you’ll have the opportunity to love them and share how Jesus leads to an eternal saving faith offered to all.
