Psalm 96:5,
“He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols.”
Out of roughly 4200 world religions, there are only 5 major religions. (See last post here. )
But only one affirms that there is a personal, loving God who can be known in this life.
In my quiet time following a recent Costco trip where I was mesmerized by all the cultures represented in one locale, I sensed this personal, loving God speaking as I opened the pages of His Word. The words of Psalm 96:4-5 seemed to jump off the page. I immediately thought about the whole concept of multiculturalism.
For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
He is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for He founded the seas and established it upon the waters. Psalm 24:1-2
I felt like He was reminding me to not be fooled by the kumbaya feeling our world wants us to associate with the coexist movement or multiculturalism. This is not truth.
The truth is, that regardless of race, nationality or culture, God is the ONE TRUE GOD of all the earth for all people. God is THE CREATOR.
God is personal and makes Himself known to anyone who’s truly seeking Him. (Jeremiah 29:13-14) I believe the world is starving for the reality of this loving and personal God in everyday life.
- Have you seen God at work in the humdrum routines of life? Share it.
- Has God created a job or opportunity for you that has to be more than coincidence? Give Him the credit!
- Has God provided a way for your bills to paid when it seemed impossible? Tell others.
- Has God redeemed your life from anxiety, worry or depression? Share it!
- Has life been hard, but God has been faithful? Share how He’s been faithful with anyone who will listen.
- Has He removed the guilt from past a sin? Tell someone!
Multiculturalism will never satisfy the insatiable desire we have for a loving companionship with One Who is wiser and greater. Only a personal relationship with the God of the Universe… the One Who created you in your mother’s womb and loves you so intimately can satisfy that longing.
Do you know Him? Personally?
You can!
The ONE true God says there is only ONE way of being in personal relationship with Him. It’s through a Name that at mere mention, can cause mainstream culture to repulse. In fact, it may be the most politically incorrect name in the world.
But don’t be fooled by mainstream. God says the only Name given to men by which they may be saved… is Jesus.
Through Jesus, we person can have a relationship with the One true, loving and powerful God. He doesn’t just point us to a path, a philosophy, or a religion. He welcomes us to know him, to experience joy, and to have confidence in His love in the midst of life’s challenges.
