As for everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. Luke 6:47-48
God spoke to Noah and told him what was on His mind.
God spoke to Abraham when he feared retaliation from kings he had defeated and told him to, “Not to be afraid.”
God spoke to Hagar, an unbelieving Egyptian maidservant when she was distressed in the desert.
God spoke to Samuel (a child) and revealed what He was about to do to Eli’s family.
God spoke tenderly to Elijah through a gentle whisper when Elijah fell into depression and was suicidal.
God spoke to Mary, Joseph, the wise men, and the shepherds.
God still speaks personally and relevantly today. When we listen and obey, we are like someone who builds their ‘house,’ on rock. When trouble comes, that ‘house’ is well built and not shaken.
Can you recognize when God is speaking to you?
