Has God Placed a Calling in your Heart?

Ephesians 4:12, Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

Over the last 3 months, I kid you not, at every event and luncheon, people have approached me asking for advice.  God has put a calling on their heart and they don’t know what to do with it.   I’ve heard:

  • A desire to begin a speaking
  • A desire to start a writing ministry
  • A desire to start a Christian women’s group in their school
  • A need for a women’s group in their church
  • A longing for a prayer ministry in their church or community
  • A ministry to older people in nursing homes and retirement homes.
  • A hunger to lead a Bible study in their neighborhood
  • A need for mentorship from a women’s director
  • A passion to start a nonprofit
  • A passion to start Christian yoga

They have a calling, but they don’t know where to start.  All they know is that they have a passion for this thing God has given them.  And they need help.

At first, I blew it off.  But the questions and the women kept coming.  Finally, I said, “OK Lord, You have my attention.”

In response, I’ve sensed the Lord telling me to “equip God’s people to do His work thus building the Body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12) “To make disciples…”  (Matthew 28:19)  I’ve sensed Him saying, “A faithful servant is one whom the manager can give the responsibility of managing His other household servants and feeding them.”  (Luke 12:42)

My response:  “But how am I supposed to feed them?  What do You want me tell them?”

Then one morning last week in my quiet time, the download came.  He seemed to give me the “curriculum” of what this would look like.

In a nutshell:  This is it.

I’ve never done this before.  I hardly feel qualified.  But this I know:  you and I are called to walk by faith and not by sight.  We’re also called to make disciples.  If I can help others fulfill their callings with what God’s taught me…  If I can help the discipleship maker make more disciples for Christ,  that means there’s more ONE Woman in the world!

Giddy up!  (Growing the ONE WOMAN is the reason for KGM’s existence!)  So in humble obedience, I proceed, trusting God with the outcome.   I not only proceed, but I’m EXCITED ABOUT IT!

In Closing:

If God has placed a desire in your heart to lead others on a faith journey,  but you are not sure where to start…  Or maybe you’ve started, and are stuck.  I would even go as far as saying, if you think something is needed in your community, school or church and are looking for that thing…  Could God be calling you to start it?  Chances are, yes.

Here’s the deal:  Jesus has already come once.  The Bible tells us He’s coming back again one day.  Based on what the Bible says about Israel and the world around us – it could be sooner than we think.   God wants people to KNOW HIM – regardless of denomination, race, political party, nationality, or gender.   Everyday, people are dying and going to hell.  People need Jesus more than ever.   We have to tell them that the cheap substitutes the world promotes – will NEVER fill the God-sized void in the human heart like a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus.

God wants you to make a difference in the lives of others.  Whether it’s a nonprofit, a ministry, or a community ministry, there are Biblical components and principles that are a necessity for getting started and leading well.

Join me.  Let’s give them Jesus!
