“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9
These are tough times, full of challenges we have never faced before. Many countries around the world have had a stay-at-home-order in effect. For a lot of people, this has not been easy. Having to forego spending time with family and friends, not running to the store on a whim, working from home, and even experiencing job loss have proven difficult. Social distancing is hard.
Have you ever considered that Jesus experienced quarantine?
Think about what Jesus went through to go to the cross for us. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came down from Heaven to Earth, knowing that He would go to the cross as the bearer of our sins. Once He left Heaven, He did not go back until He had completed the mission.
Jesus was quarantined from Heaven and His Father for 33 years. He could talk to God, but He could not see Him or go to His home. During these years, Jesus spent much time in prayer with His Father. He bore our sins on the cross and was completely separated from His Father because of His great love for us. When He finished the mission on the cross, His body was put in a tomb.
But hallelujah, the tomb is empty!! Jesus arose and He is alive!
We do not know how long our quarantine will last with this coronavirus. And while it seems impossible at times to keep social distancing, it has kept people safe.
During these challenging times, when we seek God, He is here for us. In John 16:33, Jesus said, “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” In Jesus, we can overcome this world’s hardships!
Jesus finished His mission and returned to Heaven. His Holy Spirit is with us now. And because Jesus came as a man and fulfilled His quarantine time on earth, we too will not be quarantined on this earth forever.
