“… the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Tim 4:7
Billy Graham. Talk about ONE MAN who made a difference for Christ in his corner of the world…
I love how his message never changed – always gospel centered. I love the consistency of his life. I love how his life was drama / scandal free. I love he was given the honor to lie in state at the US Capitol.
In celebration of his life, I thought I’d share some of his quotes as it relates to our relationship with God, marriage, parenting and heaven. Enjoy!
Relationship with God
“God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled and died, it was God saying to the world, ‘I love you'”
“My one purpose in life is to help people find a personal relationship with God, which, I believe, comes through knowing Christ.”
“Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.”
“Prayer is simply a two-way conversation between you and God.”
“I can tell you that God is alive because I talked to him this morning.”
“I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.”
Marriage and Parenting
“For a married couple to expect perfection in each other is unrealistic.”
“Only God Himself fully appreciates the influence of a Christian mother in the molding of character in her children.”
“A child who is allowed to be disrespectful to his parents will not have true respect for anyone.”
“I have failed many times and I would do many things differently. For one thing, I would speak less and study more and I would spend more time with my family. … Becoming involved in strictly political issues or partisan politics inevitably dilutes the evangelist’s impact and compromises his message. It is a lesson I wish I had learned earlier.”
Heaven
“My home is in Heaven. I’m just traveling through this world.”
“One day you will hear that Billy Graham is dead. But don’t you believe it. For on that day I will be more alive than ever.”
“The moment we take our last breath on earth, we take our first in heaven.”
“God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he’ll be there.”
