Truly my soul finds rest in God… Psalm 62:1
In a world that is increasingly chaotic, confusing, and corrupt, how should we live?
For believers and unbelievers alike, it’s easy to fixate on the daily newsfeed and assign blame to others when we become frustrated with the unfolding events. It’s also extremely easy to allow fear and anxiety to rule the day.
However, as believers, we are commanded not to live this way. Now, more than ever, we must set our minds on the things above. We have to cling to the things of both heaven and eternity.
What decisions allow us to live with this perspective and experience abundant lives?
- Make a commitment to believe in Jesus. This is a one-time decision when you believe God Himself came to this earth in the man named Jesus. He lived a perfect life, something no one else has ever done. Then He willingly went to the cross and paid for my sins and yours. If you have not made the decision to follow Jesus, don’t let the day close without giving your life to Him. It’s the most important and greatest decision you will ever make.
- Get to know our magnificent God! When we know God through His Son, Jesus, we can know for certain, that when this life ends, we will live forever with Him. But we also receive the promise of a rich relationship with Him now. Knowing God is a life-time pursuit.
- Have a daily quiet time with the Lord. Come closer to Him. Read His Word. Pray. Revere Him. He is holy and just. He is loving, compassionate and slow to anger. He is also the Most High God. The more we know Him, the more we’ll trust Him.
- Confess and repent of any known sin. He promises that if we’ll confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive. God loves the heart that seeks Him.
- Walk in His love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness by applying what we’re learning to our everyday lives.
Jesus has overcome this world. We can rejoice in everyday that He gives us breath and reject the patterns of this world. Embrace the life found in Jesus; it will transform your everyday heart attitude, and ultimately, your life.
