No More Gloom

“Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress.”
Isaiah 9:1-7

For way too long, I had been carrying areas of sadness, gloom and distress in the deep areas of my heart. While reviewing my Prayer Journal that year, the Lord revealed to me that these areas of gloom were so comfortable in my heart, I didn’t even realize they were there. Sadly, I had allowed them to become friends that passively tormented my heart, filling me with sadness, dread, fear and defeat.

Jesus born that cold, starry night, CAME to deliver me from this deep sadness, gloom and distress. “For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, You [Messiah] have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressors.” Isaiah 9:4

Are you still carrying a yoke that burdens you? Tormented by the rod of the enemy as he constantly reminds you of:

  • Shame and embarrassment ─ Divorce? Abortion? Addiction? Bankruptcy? Foreclosure?
  • Disappointment and distress ─ Shattered dreams of what was to be. Vocationally… The man you said, “I do” to, hasn’t turned out to be your prince Charming. Children in rebellion. Finances out of control.
  • FEAR from things in the past…
  • FEAR for the uncertainties of tomorrow…

Don’t allow these yokes to become squatters in the residency of your heart – living there without your permission. If we want these squatters to GO ─ we can’t do the same old thing ─ the same old way, and expect different results. WE must go on offense. In some cases, we must get radical in our pursuit to be free.

As we begin the New Year, may you proclaim these areas are no longer welcome.

They must NOT ONLY BE THROWN OUT, BUT they must be DESTROYED.

Isaiah 9 is a promise to us from the Lord. This is part of what Jesus, the Messiah, did for YOU and for me. We must be intentional about our time with Jesus each day. We must obey what we sense Him saying.

As we do, the rod of our oppressor and the yoke from these heavy burdens will shatter! You will have a testimony as I do, “There is no more gloom for she who was in distress.”
