What is Your Faith Prompting You to Do?

by | Sep 22, 2020 | Leadership, Spiritual Growth

2 Thessalonians 1:11 NLT,
May he give you the power to accomplish
all the good things your faith prompts you to do.

Is your faith prompting you to do something?  Are you feeling a nudge to lead a Bible study?  To start a ministry?  To walk more confidently in your calling?

Often fear, intimidation, or focus on weaknesses hinder us from taking the next step.

The Bible is full of people whose faith prompted them to do mighty things.  Big things.  Yet these giants in the faith started as average, everyday people who were often overlooked and considered weak by others.  But they still took the next step.

  • Ehud was left-handed and from the smallest, weakest tribe, Benjamin. But with God’s power, Ehud led a small group of soldiers to defeat 10,000 Moabites.  Scripture even records that he defeated Moab’s “strongest and most able-bodied warriors.” (Judges 3)
  • Gideon came from the weakest clan, and he was known as the least in his family. Yet, God used Gideon to lead a small group of men to defeat the massive, oppressive nation of Midian.  Gideon saw himself as the least, the weakest.  But God saw him as a mighty warrior whose strength was enough for his calling.  (Judges 7-8)
  • David was overlooked by his brothers and his father yet was hand-picked by God. (1 Samuel 16)
  • King Abijah of Judah was ambushed by King Jeroboam of Israel. Abijah had half as many troops as the mighty army of Jeroboam.  However, Scripture records that Abijah’s faith and trust in God’s help and power defeated Jeroboam.  Scripture even tells us that Jeroboam was defeated with “heavy losses.” (2 Chronicles 13)

The enemy tries to make each of us feel inferior, marginalized, insignificant, or weak.  But God sees us as His princesses and daughters.

We are enough for all He’s called us to – to make a difference for His glory in our families, extended families, friend groups, neighborhoods, and workplaces.

We are enough.  We are not defined by what we do, the number on the scales, the money we make or don’t make, the steps recorded on our fit-bits, or by our number of likes or followers on social media. These things are not who we are.

Instead, we are His.  He is ours.  We are enough.  When we trust and keep our eyes on Him, He makes us strong.  He arms us with supernatural power.  He calls us mighty, so we must not let the enemy run roughshod over our emotions.

Whatever your faith may be prompting you to do, do it!  Don’t look at your strength and abilities nor your circumstances or the opinions of others.

Turn your eyes to the One Who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.  Take a step of obedience to accomplish the good things your faith is prompting you to do and make a difference in life of another!

Has God called you to lead others in a faith journey,
but you don’t know where to start?
