Proverbs 27:17, As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Five years ago this month, we launched our luncheons! Though it was originally called, Iron Sharpens Iron, it was later renamed to what it is today, the KGM Luncheon!
This week, we celebrate and give praise God for creating and sustaining this ministry. He has been faithful month after month, year after year to provide topics and speakers helping others know Jesus practically and personally.
We’ve had topics such as:
- Knowing the Will of God
- Hearing from God
- Trusting God when Life Stinks
- Forgiveness
- Pornography – How our Marriage Survived
- Keeping your Marriage from Growing Stale
- Overcoming Barriers to Extraordinary Living
- So many more!
In fact, 43 luncheons in all!
Three different times, we invited men to take the podium. We’ve hosted NC Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby, Lt. Governor, Dan Forest and Johnny and Beth Evans.
If you have spoken at one our luncheons over the past 5 years, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping encourage and sharpen God’s girls in our corner of the world!
Why the Name Change?
Originally, we called the luncheon, Iron Sharpens Iron. The luncheon was created for women in ministry and women’s ministry leaders. We had a vision for it to be a place of sharpening and encouragement. At our first luncheon in April 2011, Melody Merritt was our speaker. Our second, May 2011, Fayeson Tilley addressed the audience. Both served as an amazing kick-off!
However, within a few short months, we realized “leaders” were not attending. Yet everyday women were emailing – asking if they could come. During prayer at a team meeting, the Lord led us to Matthew 22:9, “Now go to the street corners and invite everyone you see.” NLT He seemed to be saying, “Open the luncheon to anyone who wants to come.”
The rest is history!
To commemorate the 5th Anniversary this Friday, (info below), we want to open the mic for about ten minutes during the General Session and give women the opportunity to give thanks to God for how He has used the luncheon in their relationship with Him. As a team, we can think of no greater way to demonstrate our gratitude to the Lord by turning the attention ALL TO HIM!
JOIN US for the celebration!
