“The Barrick Family radiates the presence of God. They have a story that will bless your heart and stir your soul. You will be challenged to a deeper walk with God and a greater love for the Savior and his miracle-working power.”
– Tim & Beverly LaHaye
Last Wednesday, Melody Merritt, (our Conference Director) and I traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia to meet and spend time with Linda and Jen Barrick, the keynote speakers for the Making a Difference Conference.
WHAT AN AMAZING DAY!!! We spent over 5 hours with them – eating lunch, getting to know each other, talking conference details and in prayer.
Girlfriend, if you ARE signed up to come to the Conference… you just need to start getting excited!!!!!!!! YOU ARE IN FOR SUCH A TREAT!!! (And if you have NOT registered – YOU NEED TO REGISTER.)
I don’t even know where to start. There’s much I want to share. Because of their willingness to share what God is doing, you just KNOW you’re closer to Jesus by being around them. I hope this makes sense.
Let me share a few highlights of their story –
- Jennifer, 15 years old at the time, was a straight ‘A’ student, soccer player, cheerleader and active in her church youth group.
- November 5, 2006 the family was hit head-on by a drunk driver on a Sunday night coming home from church.
- The driver was driving in excess of 85mph with NO lights on. (He remains in a vegetative state)
- The entire family (Dad, Mom, brother, Josh and Jen) were sent to 4 different hospitals due to the extent of their injuries.
- Jen was not expected to make it through the night. She was in a coma for 5 weeks and had severe traumatic brain injuries with multiple skull fractures.
- The process of emerging from the coma took weeks and the doctors warned that Jen would be cursing and screaming in confusion. Instead, she was praying out loud and singing praise songs continuously.
- Jen didn’t remember that 2+2=4. She didn’t know that she was hurt. She didn’t even know she had a brother. However, she knew every word to every praise song and every scripture she had hidden in her heart.
- The power of the Holy Spirit was so alive in her and still is!
- Though she is a medical miracle – she has a brain injury. She is still recovering and suffers today from short term memory loss.
- She also has “Cortical Blindness.” She does not see very well.
- Today, Jen is 22 years old. Her mother, Linda is a full-time caregiver in essence.
- Last fall, Jen was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Due to the power of prayer and her positive response to the medication – today she is cancer free!
- God is using their story on a national and international scale. Their story has been featured on Fox & Friends, The Today Show, 100’s of radio shows. A book has been written and a DVD produced on their amazing story. ‘Miracle for Jen.’
The entire family travels and speaks at church services, etc… to inspire and give hope to hurting people as they share their miraculous story of God’s faithfulness and healing in the midst of tragedy.
And we have Jen and Linda coming to our conference!!!
Who do you know in your corner of the world that needs to hear their story of inspiration and hope in the midst of pain and tragedy?
FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO THEM and invite them!
During our meeting Wednesday and subsequent prayer time together, I was so blessed by their tender compassion and consideration towards one another. It was sweet to watch their interactions.
Since the accident, Linda says there is a depth to Jen’s prayer life. Oh my heavens, this girl prays down heaven to earth! I’ve NEVER heard anyone pray like this. Upon reflection- it’s almost as if the Lord is using her as a conduit to speak what the Holy Spirit wants her to speak.
We ran into Jen and Linda at the Mothership. I knew there was another reason we clicked so well. Oh, we’re gonna be great friends!
- Rate increases from $99 to $119 February 24th – due to our food vendors needing final numbers.
- Get your group together and Register now or just come by yourself! We’ll love on you and make you feel welcome:)
